Combating Smart Cities & 5G
EVENT: Hayden Library August 12 at 3 PM
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of connected smart objects that will be boosted by 5G technology, which will, in turn enhance the connectivity of our homes, offices, and cities. However, the widespread use of IoT and 5G technology can raise ethical and social concerns, such as privacy concerns. The use of IoT sensors can track personal data, which can be used for targeted advertising or other purposes. The increase of 5G connections is a concern to those with special needs and autoimmune diseases who have electromagnetic sensitivity. However, IoT and 5G claim they can help people live more independently by enabling remote monitoring of health conditions and providing telehealth services.
Without a doubt, the combination of IoT and 5G technology will transform the way people live and work. However, the widespread adoption of 5G technology by healthcare systems can also raise concerns about cybersecurity and privacy.
The information session at Hayden Library on August 12 at 3:00 will discuss these and other questions related to IoT and 5G technology, including the impact on privacy, independence, and health, as well as the validity of the safety of 5G on our bodies.
