Parent’s Should Decide: Your Child’s Vaccination Status in Idaho’s Tracking Database

Parent’s Should Decide: Your Child’s Vaccination Status in Idaho’s Tracking Database

Your parental rights to choose where your children’s private medical information is entered shouldn’t be compromised. That’s why we believe it’s your decision whether your child’s vaccination status is registered in Idaho’s tri-state government-tracking database known as IRIS.

Currently, this tri-state government database is accessible by doctors, daycares, and schools to enter your children’s vaccination status at every visit and annual enrollment. This means that it’s the parent’s responsibility to contact the Health Department EACH TIME your child visits the doctor or has a school enrollment package filled out in order to have the data expunged from their system.

Is this a gross violation of privacy? Do you think our tracking system should be something you can
OPT IN to if you wish rather than being forced in?

Its time to let our legislators know we want them to make this change! 2024 Legislative Session bill number 397 will allow us to OPT IN to having the government store and track vaccination status for children.
